CONCERN is growing for a man who has not been seen by his family since leaving a weekend wedding party after a row with his girlfriend.

Family and friends of 26-year-old Stephen Burn have appealed for him to get in touch after failing to hear from him since late on Saturday night.

Mr Burn left the evening reception, at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, in Green Lane, following a disagreement with his girlfriend, between 11.15pm and 11.30pm.

Initially friends and family were not unduly alarmed, but police were informed late on Sunday afternoon when he had still not returned to the home he shares with his girlfriend, in May Lea, Witton Gilbert, near Durham, or apparently contacted anyone.

His family has spent much of the last two days ringing friends in case they have heard from him as well as combing the area of the River Wear near to the rowing club.

He is described as 6ft 2in, slim, with ginger hair and at the reception was wearing a dark blue shirt, black trousers and black dress shoes.

Mr Burn works for a roller door company with a head office in Stoke, but which has contracts across the UK, including the North-East.

PC Kim Kitching, of Durham Police, said: "He's a keen Sunderland fan, but did not turn up for their game on Sunday against Manchester City which all his friends and family say is completely out of character.

"They are extremely concerned for his welfare and we are hoping that if Stephen hears or sees this appeal he will contact someone as soon as possible."

Anyone who might have seen or heard from Mr Burn since Saturday night is asked to ring police on 0345-60 60 365.
